Save the Date – January 29, 2011, and visit the Black History Museum and Cultural Arts Center in Jackson Ward for a presentation by Veronica Davis on the past, present, and future of Evergreen Cemetery in Richmond Virginia. The presentation will begin at 11AM.
Ms. Davis will focus on the history and future of the 4 cemeteries within the Evergreen Complex, in addition to providing information on where to find records on these burials. Attendees will have an opportunity to sign-up for volunteer opportunities in various localities. Founded in 2002, Virginia Roots began by offering tours of historic African American sites throughout the Richmond Metropolitan area. Its sole purpose to provide a source of funding for neglected cemeteries and other neglected historic sites throughout Virginia as needed.
