Good News, Bad News

The good news first:

John Shuck, die-hard volunteer coordinator at Evergreen Cemetery, visited today to check on the status of vegetation bins.  He happened to meet a city work crew cleaning near Maggie Walker to “make it safe” for another work crew to visit later.  This crew is reportedly sent by Del. Joe Morrissey, whose redistricted area includes Evergreen Cemetery.  Combined with the city-directed mowing in the Right-of-Way along East Richmond Road this summer, this marks the first time in recent memory that the City of Richmond has worked to help with the cleanup at Evergreen.  Note that Evergreen is NOT City-owned or maintained, but we appreciate the help and know that it’s going to take all of us working together.

The bad news: John reports that a refrigerator and hot water heater were dumped in the cemetery this weekend.  Cemeteries are not dumping grounds.
